Week 4: Your Spiritual Gift(s) (4 of 5)
When I first started searching for my own true calling, I read that we all have spiritual gifts as well. So I looked up the meaning of spiritual gifts.
Wikipedia says, “In Christianity, spiritual gifts (or charismata) are endowments given by the Holy Spirit.”
As I pondered and prayed about what spiritual gifts meant to me, I sensed that we have all been given spiritual gifts regardless of our religious background or our geographic location in the world.
- I believe you can have more than one spiritual gift. However, there may be one or two that may seem dominant.
- I believe your spiritual gift can be developed like a muscle and is meant to grow stronger over time. It grows stronger through conscious choice, life experiences, and through spiritual growth.
- I believe your spiritual gift is your unique “way of being”. (That’s why we are called Human “Beings”). Your spiritual gift is not a skill or talent that can be seen or demonstrated in the physical world. Your spiritual gift is something that people FEEL in your presence, or in the tone of your voice, and in your writing. It’s a positive, uplifting, expanded feeling of freedom.
- I believe when people experience your spiritual gift (how you make them FEEL) it silently liberates them to be a little more like that too. And that is how you serve others with your spiritual gift.

Two of my Spiritual Gifts are: “Opening the Heart” & “Courage”
——————————————————————————-
“Opening the heart” is divinely influencing someone in a way that puts them at ease, lets their guard down to trust you enough to be willing and open to listening to what you have to share. This is the root of turning strangers into friends and turning friends into clients authentically. The ability to “Open the heart” is not a sales or marketing tactic. It’s a powerful way of being. People can feel it intuitively.
Courage is also a way of being that inspires people feel a little braver
just by hearing you speak, reading your words or being in your presence.
I’m not afraid to love
I’m not afraid to fail
I’m not afraid to tell the truth
I’m not afraid to be vulnerable
I’m not afraid of what other people think
I’m not afraid to invent something that didn’t exist before. That’s my sweet spot!
I’m not afraid to OWN my strengths and OWN my weaknesses
I’m not afraid of CHANGE. I embrace it
I’m not afraid to do something radically different without a safety net – in life and in business.
When I do feel fear… I am conscious of it and I choose courageously. I didn’t start out at this place of certainty and courage. It was developed over time. But it has always been inside me and so has the ability to “Open the heart”.
Assignment:
Instead of asking yourself “what do I want to DO with my life?”. Ask yourself “who do I want to BE in the world?”. That is a clue to recognizing your spiritual gift(s). You can
also ask a friend how they would describe you. Ask a few friends how you make them feel when they are around you.
Your spiritual gift is your way of being. Your way of being isn’t forced and it’s not something you are “trying” to be, it comes so natural to you that you may not even notice it.
