I believe stories change lives. Because my life has been changed by powerful stories. Stories can inspire us, make us laugh, make us cry, trigger curiosity, and move us to take action.
Authentic stories also move us to buy from people that we feel are like us. People can instinctively sense when we are being truly authentic with a heart to serve or if the story is just a “marketing tactic”. Authentic stories win hearts.
Here’s what I believe…
– When given a choice, people choose to buy from businesses that have awesome people/products/services AND a “Higher Purpose”. TOMS Shoes (Blake Mychoskie is the Founder) is a great example of this.
– Your brand story tells people who you are and what you believe. Stories create a human connection. And people crave connection, not retail transactions.
– People love to retell stories to their friends. Do you have an awesome, authentic story that moves people emotionally (ex: moves them to laugh or cry or be curious or feel empathy) for them to share and spread your message (or your business) for you?
When our work becomes something greater than ourselves and when we communicate our “higher purpose” through a story, more people will support you. And when you have more supporters, your business grows.
