We’ve already talked about how confidence is a powerful way of being that other people can feel intuitively.
Here are the three levels of confidence…
– Unlikely. This describes a person who has 0%-5% confidence in themselves (or their business, product or service). I call them “Avoiders” or “Chronic Skeptics” because they always find excuses, blame, judgements and fear to hold them back from their best life. They have usually already made up their mind that the answer will be “No” in any given situation so they don’t even bother asking. They always say, “Yeah, but…” This makes people say “no” to you.
– On The Fence. This describes someone who is mostly positive but has 50% confidence in themselves (or their business, product or service). Some days they feel confident and other days they don’t. Some situations and conversations they feel confident and other situations they don’t feel confident. What causes this is fearful thoughts and/or subconscious limiting beliefs that keep them stuck on the fence. Their lack of confidence can shows up as “being too busy” or “being a perfectionist” or “Always getting ready to get ready”.
At this level, some people feel “like a fake” or have a fear of being “found out”. (more on this in another blog post)
Being on the fence causes other people to say “NO” to you half the time.
– Conviction. Conviction is the absence of doubt. It is ego-less and outward serving rather than self serving. It’s humility and strength in one. It’s beyond hope. It’s a deep inner knowing. Truth.
This describes someone who has an unquestioned belief, certainty, and confidence in themselves and their ability to do what they say they can do. All great leaders feel a sense of conviction.
Someone who knows without a doubt that their business, product or service WILL make other people’s lives significantly better.
Someone who knows they are the best candidate for the job.
Conviction is such a powerful way of being that other people will feel compelled to say “YES!” to you every time.
When your business or your work becomes something greater than yourself… that fuels conviction.
There are times when I’ve been on the fence with my confidence. Today, I strive for a sense of conviction in all I do. I choose to only spend my time and energy with people, work, topics I write about, projects, starting businesses, or promoting products that I feel a sense of conviction, love and passion.
