Week 2: Your True Calling (2 of 5)
Your “calling” is the work you choose to do on earth. It is the vehicle that you share your genius, talents, skills, and spiritual gift(s) with others. Choose work that you are passionate about and allows you to develop and master your natural gifts, skills and talents. This will bring you joy and fulfillment. However, if you find yourself doing work that feels draining, hard and unfulfilling, it may be time to start paying attention to the clue’s to help you get back on the right path.
Example:
Many years ago, I was a manager for Bath and Body Works at the mall. (I love their good smelling lotions.) My daily work consisted of hiring new people, payroll, scheduling, managing late night floor display moves, manage people and organizing inventory. They had strict guidelines for their displays so no creativity was allowed. I became miserable because I wasn’t being who I really am- a creator & teacher. I got to a point where I could hardly pull myself out of bed to go to work. (Maybe you’ve felt that way before too) Those daily activities would have been a perfect fit for someone else but it was not for me. When I began choosing work that I was “called” to do rather that what I “had” to do, that’s when I felt happier, had more energy and work felt like fun.
If not, be sure to watch for my next blog post on discovering your passions. Your passions help you see your true calling and purpose.
